Labour Aide: Mass Migration, Our Secret Motive (despite potential impact on Working Class voters)

In this clip from a longer interview for the discussion show "So What You're Saying Is...", Lord Green, a retired British Ambassador and currently the chair of the think tank “Migration Watch”, quotes directly from a 2009 article in London's Evening Standard by Andrew Neather, a top aide in the UK Labour Party.

In it Neather admitted a major motivation for Mass Migration was to "Rub the Right's nose in Diversity". This policy was embarked upon despite the potential impact large-scale immigration might have on “Labour’s core white working-class vote.”

Andrew Neather was a senior speechwriter and adviser in the Labour Government of Tony Blair intimately involved in the discussions surrounding the policy.

Reading from the article, Lord Green quotes Neather:

“It didn’t just happen. The deliberate policy of ministers from late 2000 until at least late last year [2009] was to open up the UK to mass immigration.” Andrew Neather noted this was a major shift from the policy of previous governments.

"I [Andrew Neather] wrote the landmark speech given by then immigration minister Barbara Roche in September 2000, calling for a loosening of controls... …the earlier drafts I saw also included a driving political purpose: that mass immigration was the way that the Government was going to make the UK truly multicultural", he went on to write.

"I remember coming away from some discussions with the clear sense that the policy was intended - even if this wasn't its main purpose - to rub the Right's nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date. That seemed to me to be a manoeuvre too far. …

He concluded that "there was a reluctance elsewhere in government to discuss what increased immigration would mean, above all for Labour's core white working-class vote. This shone through even in the published report: the 'social outcomes' it talks about are solely those for immigrants."

Lord Green could not say whether Labour's initial mass migration policy was also motivated by a belief that these immigrant communities might later become Labour vote.

Andrew Neather's revelation, backed up by other sources, was clearly a huge embarrassment for the Labour Party of the time. Indeed, despite implementing such a fundamental change to the demography of Britain, the former Labour PM barely mentions immigration in his memoirs, says Lord Green.

Lord Green and Peter Whittle believe this remarkable revelation did not receive due attention at the time due to the BBC's reluctance to draw attention to the subject.

If this was indeed a deliberate policy it was a thoroughly irresponsible one and moreover bordering on the criminally insane.

Yes. Labour is now reaping the benefits of Blair's open-door policy.
And I still want my country back.

Blair/Mandelson should be tried as enemies of the state.

So sad. I'm a middle aged American who was a foreign exchange student at Lancaster University from 1993-1995. I loved everything about England. The uniqueness of each small town, the rich culture, the amazing history, and the friendly and authentic people. All on a tight little island. I probably feel more sadness about this than most British people do.

Makes you realize that Blair was much more dangerous and disingenuous than Corbyn. At least Corbyn admitted what he was which, I kind of respect for, but Blair was a sneaky, manipulative 5th columnist.

_"...the earlier drafts I saw also included a driving political purpose: that mass immigration was the way that the Government was going to make the UK truly multicultural"_
Even though this project of grand demographic change is well underway, it's chilling to see the forethought of it put down in black and white.

Share this far and wide, since the referendum people have become more politically aware . I for one was always a Labour voter but it was just habit not an informed choice. The more I look and learn about the real Labour party the more my decision never to vote for them again is re - enforced.

It didn't just "rub the nose's of the right into the ground" it rubbed the nose's of the working man into the ground, to the point where he was too costly to employ.

Blair. Is there any damage that man was not invested in? No public servant, him.
