Caribbean to be on watch for possible tropical storm, tropical wave about to enter the region

Note that the feature you circled at 3:31 is not the disturbance entering the eastern Caribbean. Track it with the 850mb vorticity. That feature moves into eastern Honduras 18Z Monday (12Z GFS). The GFS develops a spurious low near Jamaica by 18Z on Wednesday, which is the feature it takes into the Gulf. Very suspicious. The ICON, CMC, and Euro all move the feature into Central America without development. GFS is all alone in developing a low near Jamaica. Also, you might try Levi's 200-850mb wind shear map under "Upper Dynamics" for something much better (and easier to see) than that CIMSS shear anomaly graphic.

In previous runs the gfs had that tropical system going into Mexico. Then into Alabama/Florida. Now into Texas. The gfs is all over the place. I guess it’s because it is making forecasts past ten days. Euro much more conservative. Good job. Love your intro music. So dynamic.
