This is such an important scene that makes the whole plot of the film more interesting and meaningful. It shows why Charulatha picked JD out of everyone to help out the kids at the Juvenile prison. It also shows why she started liking him. It also conveys how JD is not just an alcoholic but also a straight-thinking person who is clear in his thoughts. Every single of 5 times I’ve watched Master, I’ve always wondered why would Charu choose a drunkard to solve issues at a Juvenile when she doesn’t even know him much except that students celebrate him and he knows some good morals like teaching students about practical things like elections. Otherwise, there’s nothing about him that she knows that makes him stand out from other teachers to the extent that only he can help those boys. This scene shouldn’t have been deleted.
