Customers and workers will pay the price of cutting tipped wages, Michigan restaurant owners say

Michigan restaurant owners are warning that recent changes to the state’s tipped wage laws will have a “devastating” effect on local businesses. Some workers also fear servers could see a substantial cut in tips as these roles transition to standard minimum wage earners.

My job told me us servers will probably be let go if this tipping wage is phased out. I'm terrified. I love my job. The idea of being in a store or office fills me with dread. I get paid to be active all day and put smiles on people's faces. I hope they listen to us.

Tips will dissappear and so will service

Yeah, it’s not going to be that much of a decrease in revenue for the restaurants. Over in Europe they don’t have tips for anything.

They need to remove asking for a tip when you purchase something with a card when all they did was put your item in a bag.
