I feel like Agent X could have been pretty cool if he was "opposite deadpool" In the sense that he just takes everything seriously, but nonsense just happens around him, and he's forced to deal with stupid silly situations but he just wants to be taken seriously.

Wow, Dorkin's rant was straight up prophetic. Or maybe he's just one of the few creators back then that wasn't blinded by dollar signs

For a bit of context behind Agent X, the reason the comic felt so much like Deadpool is because it essentially was Deadpool. The main Deadpool run at the time ended with Wade seemingly dying, and then some time later Agent X debuts with the exact same team writing and illustrating. The whole mystery behind Agent X was if he was Deadpool or not.

If Fight-Man does get a new story, I want it to be a commentary on the oversaturation of asshole superheroes.

The whole “flying this poor lady into space until she agreed to date him” thing reminded me of Tighten from Megamind lol… That’s next-level messed up 😅

While I wasn't the writer who worked on Fight-Man's entry in our run of Official Handbooks, I do recall a bit of push-back from the higher-ups about cementing the FM issue as 616-canon (even with the Agent X follow-up having long been out), but they finally relented.

The Dorkin interview really is so ahead of its time, for certain groups it would still be controversial so it's really cool to see him go about it in the 90s

So Evan was so based, but no one would ever know he was one the few to say it first.

5:34 This is even funnier considering Strong Guy is the name of an actual main universe Marvel hero who in the 90s was an active member of X-Factor.

Marvel has so many underused characters with potential that deserve a chance at the spotlight. That's why I love the Initiative, it assembled so many obscure characters

Evan made Milk and Cheese, wrote bunch of eps for Superman the animated series, created Live Wire....amazing career and truly underrated indie king

I like to think Fight Man’s catch phrase is “I like to fight, Man”

You don't know how happy it made me to think seeing that thumbnail "Hey this looks like Evan Dorkin's work, " then someone in the top comments immediately confirms it for me.
Edit: Based of you to promote Dorkin's other work since it's my understanding he's trying to get a new printing of The Eltingville Club's hardcover off the ground with Dark Horse and I would want that thing so badly.

"There's no reason to keep publicizing the fact that this industry's mostly male and dateless" Holy shit based

For real though, Marvel should have an official crossover with One Punch Man

Hooded eye has a really good saturday morning villain aesthetic, feels like somewhere between savage dragon and venture bros

I think the very best way to include Fight Man is to have him exist as a reoccurring cutaway gag. Use his idiotic "heroics" and property damage to explain why a hero is absent, why some easy solution isn't currently viable, and generally why things are more inconvenient for the story's hero.

And make the tagline that's associated with him: "God DAMN it, Fight-Man!"
