I’ve been a fishy-fan of Donal Skehan since I saw his great “Grandma’s Boy” series on the Dutch television, which was some ago. So it’s an absolute honour and pleasure to visit him in his beautiful home town of Howth near Dublin in Ireland.

In this video, Donal shows me how to make a seafood chowder, the Irish way! With over 4 different types of fish, I can assure you that it’s just amazing. This is such a comforting dish which will definitely warm your mussels. A proper fisher(wo)men’s meal!

Make sure to head over to Donal’s channel to check out his videos and check the recipe we did over there, a delicious Fish Pie. Don’t forget to subscribe and say hi from me while you’re there!

If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up and leave your comments or questions in the box below. Don’t forget to subscribe!

See you next Fishy Friday!

We were in Howth last year and ate some delicious oysters in a restaurant on the far left side of the port, great recipe this one, like the fact that the Irish love their seafood!

Awesome seeing Bart and Donal together. Loved the super quick and simple recipe. I'd add a hint of smoked paprika while cooking down the bacon and onions for that added dimension.

Also, won't it be easier to steam the mussels first and then pop them out of their shells and add them to the chowder at the very end along with their cooking juices? Seems like it would make eating the dish a lot easier and less messy.

Yup, this is on the menu for the weekend. Hey Bart, do you have any tips on what makes a good fish stock? We always use a chicken stock for our chowders.
