I have been using Kendo UI within a development team for large commercial applications since it's release. It's amazing!

Isn't it competition for jQuery (mobile) even though it's supported by them?
Will you make a tutorial series showing how to use it? That would be awesome!

Just one short explanation to help clarify free/commercial dilemma: Kendo UI consists of THREE separate products: Kendo UI WEB; Kendo UI DATAVIZ; Kendo UI Mobile. The first one, Kendo UI Web is FREE to download and use, under GPL v3 license, without any restriction, and also without support, with full source code.
DataViz and Mobile cost some money. I am proud owner of full license, that costs $699. In my humble opinion, it worth every cent.

Kendo UI Web is Open source, go on the website and click on download. Released under CPL V3

Yes it is free. People are confused because the first thing you see on the kendo ui page is a purchase button followed by a list of prices on this page:

kendoui.com/purchase.aspx

which does NOT have the free web version. It's here:

kendoui.com/download.aspx

Mobile costs $199. Not sure I understand the difference, does mobile permit cross platform client app development for deployment to the app store, android market etc??

the 30 day trial is free, then you'll have to buy it, anyway, if it's just for learning porpuses, with 30 days it would be enough, don't you think?
