I've Always felt like an underachiever, an outsider for starting my own small business instead of working in corporate America like my family and friends. I'm even working on my Masters to enter corporate America. But these videos have helped open my mind. I''ll stick to what I'm doing. Yes, business goes up and down, but at least I still have something.

The companies definitely aren't loyal. My previous job required me to travel quite a bit. They suddenly reduced mileage reimbursement from 54 cents/mile to 46 cents/mile and did not increase it again even when gas prices were soaring. Then they started paying our mileage LATE nearly every pay period. At the end of the year, no one except those in leadership positions received a bonus. I finally quit this past February and was expecting to be paid for 54 hours of leave I accrued and they kept it. I left in February and my position is STILL open. I like to think that my "wonderful" review of them on Indeed may have a little something to do with that. 😁 I now work for the federal government making almost $25, 000 more in my current position. Leave these companies for something better before they screw you over entirely.

Another point. If you still don't believe Orlando, look around your company, if you have worked there greater than 17 years. Now, how many new employees past few years are contracted staff hire vs pension hired? How many service employees are part-time workers vs full time workers, past few years? How many have been asked by their employer to input all the tasks you do step by step into a database? You will understand the movement to layoff as many employees began a while back and is increasing of recent years.

I work in finance at one of these larger institutions - they keep sending many jobs overseas and most of these run on skeleton crews in the US. India, Portugal, Scotland, all of these countries and more are replacing all of these US persons during this downturn

Edit; the company will sacrifice quality in this offset but will keep the company running. Once the economy starts to come back up they’ll bring back the competitive and expensive headcount. Its a cycle

I'd make the distinction that AI is not to blame in and of itself. CEOs are selling the promise of what AI could someday do and consumers are actually just dealing with lousier service while companies run on skeleton crews and collect higher prices. For example, I was car shopping and (unbeknownst to me) was getting automated messages from their system. I set up an appointment with Elle Evans who is apparently the bot at multiple BMW dealers. Once I arrived at the dealership, the reception desk was un-staffed. It took over 20 minutes to find someone available to demonstrate the car and another 10 to have the car actually pulled out to test drive. I now have the info I need, but I'll shop elsewhere.

To thine own self be true. You have a job for a paycheck, not a relationship. Always put boundaries up when hired in as a “team player”. Companies and coworkers will exploit you for their gain. Ever since YouTube started monetizing people with videos doing commentary on other people's work...the flood of opinion channels claiming to be content creators is destroying the pay algorithms as more people jump into the pool...
You are creating actual content you are actually working your tail off not looking off of somebody else's homework papers...I think all those channels out there that just do commentary on other people's content should not be monetized...they should go get a real job....
