I remember this. Crocs from all around the world celebrated this victory and to this day You can hear young crocs talkong amongst each other how their grandfathers were victorious in that battle.

I’ve researched this a lot. Most died from exposure, starvation, and the allies but some were eaten.

Ramree is one of those stories that's over exaggerated. In reality less than 100 soldiers went into the swamps and 70% of them were captured

the number continues to grow every time he tells this story.

I wonder if the crocs ever talk about that.

I've never heard that story. Makes me think of the American Sailors on The USS Indianapolis left for the sharks. Crazy stuff.

That’s a largely unconfirmed and dismissed story this dude is sensationalism personified

The story is BS. I recommend everyone read “Man Eating by Estuarine Crocodiles: The Ramree Island Massacre Revisited”
Long Story short:
Bruce Wright, the author of the book this story comes from, was not on Ramree island when it happened. Multiple factors led to the deaths of these soldiers such as dehydration, disease, and lack of food. Only up to 15 soldiers were killed by crocodiles.

There is a report that states crocodiles ate dead Japanese soldiers after they had been killed by Allied soldiers though, but as I said these soldiers were already dead when the crocs got to them.

Guinness World Records, the group who asserted this as the largest animal massacre, now looks at the story with doubt.

My father was one of the Royal Marines who attacked the island, that led to this incident. Many of the Japanese soldiers were wounded, so the blood in the water 'woke' the crocodiles up. Many screams could be heard during that night, from the landing craft my father was on. How many Japanese got eaten? Does it matter? It was still a nightmare situation to be in.

I’ve never heard about this. So many stories in such a short period in history.
