Canakkale Bridge Finally Opened! (Asia - Europe in 5 Minutes)

Today we're talking about the longest bridge that has been built in Turkey to connect Asia with Europe, 1915 Canakkale bridge Turkey.

A massive suspension bridge has been unveiled in Turkey that will leave you exclaiming. This record-breaking achievement is thanks to President Erdogan, who inaugurated the 1915 Canakkale Bridge, built across Turkey's Dardanelles Strait.

Before the bridge was constructed, vehicles traveling between Anatolia and Gallipoli peninsula had to cross Dardanelles in a one-hour ferry journey. With all the waiting and time required to hop on and off the ferry, this would easily add up to 5 hours of your precious time being wasted!

The work on what is deemed to be the “longest suspension bridge in the world” started on the Dardanelles strait in March 2017. Over 5000 construction workers were commissioned to erect the 2023 meter long bridge. The towers stand tall at approximately 318 meters high, and the bridge's total 4.6 km length is 4.6 km. Thanks to this mammoth construction, cruising past this bridge between two continents will take you just about six minutes.

That’s not the only record this bridge holds. The bridge also has the longest distance between two towers, in the whole world. It is also the sixth tallest bridge globally.

Built by the South Korean contractors SK Eco plant and DL E&C, in collaboration with Turkish contractors Yapi Merkezi and Limak, it entailed a mind-boggling investment $2.8 billion.

The King Salman project, if implemented, will link the continent of Asia with Africa within minutes, and the plan is to link it through Sanafir Island and Tiran
To link Egypt and Saudi Arabia with a sea bridge so far is an idea and it has not been worked on, perhaps because of the great difficulties they face

The King Fahd Sea Causeway, linking Bahrain with Saudi Arabia, is currently being expanded

I know the motorway the bridge will connect to is not complete, but I currently have questions about the usefulness of the bridge, given that it doesn't connect many particularly important urban areas.

It's a great video but that pronunciation of the Dardanelles, was way out and frustrating. As an Australian, who's country fought at the Gallipoli campaign I welcome the name of the bridge. Indeed it is fitting. I admire and and grateful to the Turkish governments, since the start of Ataturk's rein for respecting the bodies of the fallen from both sides of the conflict.
