I bought a new 2002 Mondeo Estate Ghia X 2litre diesel. I ran it for 75, 000 miles and gave it to my son. He ran it for a further 70, 000 miles and traded it in. Other than service parts the only work needed was a new fuel pump and a new radio. A brilliant car and good value for money.

Fords of that era drove really nicely. Lovely ride and handling balance. So perhaps dull to look at but not dull to drive.

I love it when owners look after their cars to the point that it has a clean MOT at 20 years. It’s a skill that not many people can achieve.

This is positive proof that if a car is decent in the first place, and is then maintained properly, it will last and will pass an (advisory free) MOT 19 years later!! I’ve had 2 models of these and they’re great cars, very underrated. Great video as always Matt, thank you…👍😊

Who needs to spend £40-£50, 000 on a car when this £2000 car will do exactly the same thing.
 Plenty space in the back for kids and dogs and no worries about it getting dented in Asda.
Little depreciation and no EcoBoom engine to worry about.

This era of cars was so underappreciated. I love the BTCC history of the saloon models including the likes of the Honda Accord, Vauxhall Vectra and many others

I had about ten of these as company cars as Area Manager for Ford Greece.

It’s a fabulous car, looks great, it’s quick, handles brilliantly, spacious, reliable, I’ve done over 200k miles in Mondeo’s, one of the ten was exactly this car, same colour but a Ghia.

Matt, gold happens to be an all time classic Ford colour. In the late 70’s, early 80’s Fiesta, Capri, Granada Ghia’s, the launch colour was always gold.

A taxi company in my town here in Slovenia had few of those Mondeos with 2l diesel engines. All went over 600.000 km. The definition of a workhorse.

I've had Mondeos since 2007. Everyone of them was a gem. Never let me down and the Titanium X trim has evrything apart from a heated steering wheel. I now have a 2012 Tit X and apart from annual services, it's not cost a penny extra.

Had one of these and regretfully sold it, was a 2l TDCi Ghia 53 plate estate (and I was 21 at the time). Would love to get one in that spec again 🤩 such brilliant cars!

I absolutely love it when you try to keep these old girls on the road 👏🏻 plenty of life in that car for someone, a totally useable, practical and fairly cheap to run motor! I wonder if we will be saying the same about any of the EV’s in 19 years time 🤔 I doubt it some how! Nice one Matt👏🏻👍🏻
