A highlight of an Alsatian Homestead and its long history. Dating back to before Texas Statehood, the Empresario Henri Castro brought settlers to Medina County Texas for Freedom, Land and just maybe a Homestead of their own....

The Rohrbach(1852) and Huegele(1844?) Homesteads are part of the Bader Settlement Northwest of Castroville Texas. Homesteaders were more successful in settlements like Bader, where neighbors would help each other. A helping crowd from Castroville was available maybe on a delayed timeframe. And San Antonio - forget it.
