For the garden books/shiny pages, I really love making journal cards or my own small "tea cards". I back them with fun paper, cut them and tuck in pockets or clip them in. Larger ones, I make writing boards out of. I tuck these behind a page I need to write on to avoid bumbies from all if my work- for those I sandwich in a thin chipboard to make it a hard writing surface. I always add a writing board into the journals I make for family and friends.🤓

I'm a Brit and whenever I go back to visit family in the Uk I love looking in the charity shops for books and my husband always complains about how much I am trying to take back to California. lol

Hi Meg, put your coffee dyed tissue paper over the glossy papers. That will tone them down. Beautiful selection of books.

The biggest books have nice heavy pages for making master-collage sheets.

I knew this was dangerous to watch ( for my savings account that is) because I just love to buy these cool books! I just did too and I so hope that it has a great cover like yours does! I am ready to make an altered book. Thank you!!!

The vintage illustrations are beautiful. I have a hard time finding books that old in thrift stores where I live. Mostly I can get stuff from the 1960s to present. But I have found some books from that time period that have cool images in them. The great thing about junk journals is that you can use basically anything that interests you 😊 plus who doesn’t love wandering around their local thrift store looking for treasures!?

This might sound silly but I just recently realized that I could cut down a book cover and put fabric on it to refinish the edges, so on that big wild flower book you could cut it down closer to the foil image on the front, maybe have a tall skinny book. It seems a shame to lose that beautiful image.
More importantly, I absolutely love your videos. I wish you did more but I know it’s a lot of work. Thank you for sharing your art ❤

Great book finds! I’d love to see you take one through the prepping process like you did recently with the gardener’s journal. ☺️

Meg: I enjoyed the review of the selection of books. I’m going to keep my eyes open for one of those Illustrated books of wild flowers, -especially the one with the one sided pictures.
Of course, I already have The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. Not cutting that one up. However, I always have my eyes open for another one. Those are hard to find in thrift stores. You never know… Carol from California

I'm so inspired to go look for a few books at my thrift store! BUT, I have quite a stash here at
home from library sales, so think I'll just start there! Don't even have to drive or wait til the
store opens! Thanks, Meg, for all the inspiration! Hugs! Peggy

Hi Meg - Thanks for hearting my comment. You may have missed my question. I'm interested in the Complete Book of House Plants but cannot find the match. Do you have an author or an artist for this book? I can only see the publisher information. I'd so appreciate your help on this. LOVE this book.

You found some really nice books! 💕🥰 We have similar tastes when it comes to junk journals.
We don’t have thrift shops around here like that so I found some of these on eBay for not too much money 🥰
Thank you for the video!!

Great haul! I prefer matt and illustrations. Every time I've used magazine pages I'm not that happy because of the glossy look. But with paint it can all be knocked back and dulled down a little. I love the fonts in the Edwardian Lady's Diary one. That and the first two would definitely be my pick, and the plant one for something a little different, but they are all beautiful x

Hi Meg - love your videos and have been following Junk Journal July. I also collect these books but am drooling over The Complete Book of House Plants! Just my style. Does it have an author or illustrator that I can search by? I can't seem to find a match in the on-line used book sellers. Appreciate the help.
