Linux mint should definitely offer a KDE version. Honestly the Mate version seems pretty pointless, I dont know that many people who say they like Mate over XFCE, so if anything they should have gotten rid of that.

I think KDE could make the goal of having an OS easy for people coming from Windows to use easier. They could make a theme for KDE that resembles the other modern Mint versions, and I honestly think that could be better than cinnamon for a lot of people.

I was interested in using Mint, but Cinnamon just isn't de DE for me. I saw that Mint had a KDE variant in the past, so I was hoping to find some guide to install KDE on Mint - and there it is 😀
Since it's a working PC that HAS to be reliable I'm not sure if I really want to take that route since I don't know about the issues I could run into with this change.

When Mint dropped KDE as one of their supported DEs, is when I started to lose interest in the distro! Good to know that this option is availble though, in case I want to give Mint another go!

I have have done this a few times. Each time it seems too work smoothly bui as time goes on it develops odd problems and behaviors until it finally crashes out.

For the virtual box problem, it might be due to the virtual network adapter type. I had the same thing happen to my virtual Linux on ESXi and changing the virtual adapter type from VMXNET3 to E1000 fixed the freezing issue.

Add a second user in mint. Use one to log into mint and the other to log into kde

So I wanted to be rebellious and picked sddm instead.
Now I'm greeted with an ugly screen that pushes and virtual keyboard in my face like I'm on a touch device.
Can I go back and change this?

My only complaint for Mint is how little control I have over the panel. If I could just have the kde panel that would be great.

If I remember correctly plasma Kde was pulled due to conflicts with the how mint does stuff. Just can't remember what the conflict was.

How do I switch environments if I dont have a log in screen?

This might sound like a stupid question and I'm still new to Linux but can you/is it safe to install a new environment after you're already set up with the packages you want installed for your system? I Imagine its probably best to install an environment with a clean OS? I was just wondering if it was gonna mess any software up.

I barely like Plasma better than Gnome, and I can't stand Gnome. I love Cinnamon. I like XFCE. Didn't Linux Mint used to offer a Plasma edition? Anyway, you should also do a video for installing Cinnamon over XFCE on MX Linux, Xubuntu, or Sparky Linux. Works great on all 3, but I just run Cinnamon on Debian Sid now. And some Cinnamon Arch.

Hello i have question, if i make a new account in which i chose kda as desktop enviroment and 1st account is cinamon, will i have to install again all new programs in my 2nd account with kde?

For virtual machines, Qemu/ KVM/ Virt-Manager is the only way to go.
