Nasa releases first audio of Perseverance's laser shots on Mars

This is the first acoustic recording of laser shots on a rock target on Mars, as recorded by NASA's Perseverance’s robot.

By shooting laser pulses at a target rock, scientists will be able to study the variations in the intensity of the zapping sounds.

This should yield information on the physical structure of the targets, such as its relative hardness or the presence of weathering coatings
