This is incorrect information given in this video. In both Standard British/International English and Standard American English, the normative pronunciation is ['maek i neit] and [, maek i 'nei/ 3n] - i.e. with the third phoneme pronounced hard "k" - i.e. as "MAK-" not "MASH-" See, for example, Longman's Pronunciation Dictionary, where this is the pronunciation recommended for teachers and learners and in formal general usage. Local variants (such as "mash-", which you do indeed hear) are also listed for reference purposes. [Edit: the phonemic symbols have not all rendered properly, but the gist is clear, w.r.t. the pronunciation under discussion.]
This bears out my own experience as an EFL teacher, where "mak-" is the form favoured by educated users and language teachers.
