ha, there's a couple of reasons why I can't bring myself to pick this up. As the son of a compulsive gambler, horse racing brings me out in shudders. I also read Scanlan's flash fiction collection "The Dominant Animal" and even though I've published 5 collections of flash myself, her book really left me cold.

I hear what you’re saying about the abuse of horses or any animal for that matter it’s very tragic horses and other animals also get used in military actions a very interesting example is a horse named Sergeant reckless who saw combat action in Korea there’s actually a statue of her somewhere The dialogue that you read from the book sounds very interesting I don’t think there’s any trade occupation in the world which if looked at perceptively
would not be very fascinating Samuel Johnson once said that he could write the biography of a broomstick and make it work so I guess what I’m basically trying to say is that it’s all in the writer yeah you were commenting on how the book opened up a window onto a floor in the world which you never visited Later br
