Starship Mechazilla FAIL #starship #ksp2 #spacex

Starship OFT is happening, It didn't go today, but maybe soon. So I decided to try and catch Superheavy with the worlds worst Mechazilla recreation in Kerbal Space Program 2. It didn't go well, and for once it wasn't KSP2's fault.

It doesn't land on the fins, it has some specific points under the fins to attach on

bit of criticism: the irl superheavy has the grid fins in 2 pairs 60 degrees apart for increased control in one axis but reduced control in the others, your superheavy has the grid fins 90 degrees apart

The grid fins actually never makes contact with the tower it has specific features on super heavy to clamp on to, the grid fins are just to slow down super heavy

They don’t grab the grid fins. There are lifting points just under the grid fins the arms will latch onto. If they miss. The grid fins will easily sheer off

If you want to land more efficiently and have better throttle control you need to switch down to less engines. I would say that you should do 2-3 for that.

Im doing this in ksp 1 career mode. Saves so much funding. Using no parachutes and lands on flightstrip. Aerobrakes are all I use.

I wish KSP2 came with grid fins vanilla. Mostly because I dont feel like playing with mods yet.. before the game has become more stable.. but i kind of need grid fins.
