I just wanted to say, I just had the chance to listen to your sit down with André Duqum. I just want to say, first and foremost, I was shocked to my core. I don't say that to be hyperbolic. I am a 27 year old, and I am self educated. Keep that in mind. For most of my life, I have been utterly fascinated with the phenomenology of the mind. When you spoke about consciousness as being an emergent property of a data or information driven self simulation, I about fell out of my chair. Early, around 13 or 14, I became fascinated with hermetic philosophy, and esoteric belief. AS was in Descartes Baby, I have always had a conceptualization of what I will call the distinction of the "upper and lower" world's. I have, since my earliest memory, can recall clearly differentiating that the concept of consciousness and materialism were incompatible. Infact, several years ago, I experienced what I believed to be a religious phenomenal experience, I had what I understand now to be the inclination of awareness of an emergent unitary consciousness as you put it. I at the time, believed myself, foolishly to be God. I now believe that what I had confused then for god, is what I now believe that you refer to as this "unitary consciousness". I strongly agree with your assertion that self simulation derived from an information based universal structure. As 1930's deconstructionalist philosopher Derrida writes, the world is TEXT. Wittgenstein proposed the idea that language, not material is a more direct way to address the nature of reality, I agree, because it is just as you stated, information can be said to be reality. Just a funny thought, but here's a line for ya, "What is matter? Well it's what matters of course." The absurdity of the phrase comes about because of the semantics of course, but it almost directly proves that in a way, meaning, information, or thought can be said to be directly or indirectly representative of reality as it is perceived. I understand it is your almost Kabbalistic or esoteric belief that there must be a rectification of the upper and lower worlds, of the "mind" and "body", of syntactic language and semantics. I agree that a selfsimuation serves as a more complete representation of the ontology that describes the binary and yet unitary nature of the conceptual world or mental simulation, projection and the materialist, physical theory. I am sorry for carrying on, I just wanted to say, that your dialog in this one video has served to provide me with a clarity I haven't encountered many times. I wanted to say thank you, I see exactly what you are saying. I'm just like you, while I do not have a degree, as I simply come from a world of less than others. I one day would like to hear from you. It really is refreshing to see someone with an open mind, but so admirably applying the razor with such a steady hand, Occum would be honored to witness your logical surgery of post modernist materialism. I have great respect for a man who can see the merit in a theory one finds incomplete. I hope Mr.Irwin has a chance this, if not I'd whomever does to send him the message if at all possible. I am greatly inspired, flummoxed, and entertained in the same stride. Thank you so thoroughly much. Although I may never work along side you, as I don't know of that I would like to pursue a degree, as Good ole' Will Hunting said, "you dropped a 150 grand on a f***n' education you could have got for a dollar fifty in late charges a the public library."
