I remember this dunk made the national news; it was so iconic at the time.

The "look at that" is almost as iconic as the dunk

You know what is even greater than this dunk (at least to me)? Practice the next day, Coach Smith congratulates the team and Jordan on his dunk. THEN, he makes MJ run laps because he didn't pass the ball ahead, as was one of his fundamental teachings.

I remember that dunk. Newspapers in NC ran cartoons about peoples' eyes bulging over it. Michael has always been underrated as a college player.

I watched this game on my 13" B&W TV back in the day. I was a big Len Bias fan and the Maryland games used to come on TV. This was the day I was introduced to Michael Jordan.

As a Maryland fan I saw that game live. It was awesome. We knew he was a flashy player that would be good in the NBA. I didn't know he had the work ethic and heart to be the best of the best.

I remember people talking about that dunk the next day when I was in HS. That was one of the games I had missed. I took a while to finally see the dunk, because that was before YouTube and I don't think ESPN was on at the time

No self-respecting Piston fan would ever praise Michael Jordan. But, holy crap, that was an amazing dunk from the absolute GOAT. That dunk is fierce by 2023 standards, let alone in the early 80's.

Maryland’s Len Bias and fellow Tar Heel Kenny Smith can only watch Jordan’s cradle dunk in amazement. RIP Len Bias

Jordan actually had to run sprints for not passing to a progressing open man for this. The guy that didn't get the pass as mentioned, is 2 time champ with the Houston Rockets Kenny the jet Smith. He tells a hilarious story about the play, it's on NBA open court "the art of the dunk"

Dribbling to dunking all with one hand, no set up with both hands or jumping off of both feet, just smooth.

Being from North Carolina and after the championship win
The Blue Carolina Tar heels soda was the best ever.

That was the dunk that put the "Air" next to Michael. He was the 2nd coming of Dr. J. This was game was in January 1984. 13 months later he was at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest wearing 2 gold chains in his signature kicks.
