Fasnacht Basel 2024 - Fasnachtsumzug | Guggenmusik | Basler Fasnacht | Switzerland

Fasnacht parade in Basel on the third day of Basler Fasnacht 2024 called also "Cortège am Mittwoch" or "Fasnachtsumzug" - 21.02.2024. An official route leads around the city center through the river where "Cliques" (formed groups of participants) play "Guggenmusik" (brass band music) wearing colourful costumes and throwing tons of confetti as well as flowers, sweets, drinks, vegetables and oranges to the crowd. The parade ends officially at 6 PM, but active participants go all out, also after midnight and enjoy this additional Carnival highlight to the fullest. Just before 4 AM on Thursday morning, the Cliques and Gugge groups play a final march called "Endstreich". Basel Fasnacht is the biggest carnival in Switzerland. It is listed as one of the top local festivities in Europe as well as UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.
