For enterprise usage, Evolution has great support for MS Exchange servers (also with Office 365). Using Evolution on my work laptop as the only Linux user is a mostly Microsoft dominated environment. :) It was a easy switch from Outlook and everything including tasks and calendar with appointments with other people work out of the box!

MESSAGE FILTER is extremely useful. I am using it to color code incoming email based on subject content. However it appears to only work for new mail received from the time the MESSAGE FILTER is created. Is there a way for the rule to apply to all mail in the folder and not only to mail received after the MESSAGE FILTER was created? Appreciate your guidance, Thank you in advance.

I tried Mailspring and really liked it but there was no way to import the 20 years of emails I have stored in Thunderbird. So I'm still using Thunderbird.

I am currently using windows live mail on windows 7, and will be switching to using Ubuntu, and want to have as easiest time with the transition as possible. It looks like most of the programs I am currently using have a Ubuntu version, and I just have to find an email client that will be similar to, and import my emails, accounts, and address book. It looks like Evolution will be my best bet. Is there anything I should look at or consider?

I found to love Evolution ever since I discovered it pre installed in GNOME 💪

A lot of people criticize Evolution, primarily because, to them, it looks old and ugly. I don’t care. I want functionality. I don’t need my favorite programs to have a new look every two years; I just want them to be sturdy and reliable. Evolution keeps working better; it just keeps looking the same. I recently discovered how easy it is to sync Evolution with Google Mail and Google Calendar. When my wife asked me about syncing Google with Outlook, I learned it was much more complicated. If you’d rather send and receive e-mail than tinker with how your program links, Evolution is really good.

There are few other alternatives to replace outlook but evolution so far is the best because it comes with MAPI implemetation Evolution-ews created by Gnome which is included with Evolution. Thunderbird has extensions for exchange server but it isn't free. I wonder if thunderbird will come to it's senses and include something like evolution-ews out of the box.

Thanks you for this, I wasn't aware of this alternative. I've been wanting to get off my now very old version of Outlook but Thunderbird has its issues and seems to follow suit with UI changes that I don't like. Its got to be worth giving this a try. I like the idea of the local mail files being shown on their own, IMAP is all good and well but if something goes wrong or you get hacked there is a real risk of losing everything even local copies when emails are synched up again, that's assuming that everything is even being stored locally because it's not always the case.

One has to put incoming and outgoing servers name manually this will not attract person switching from Windows. You just have to enter your email address and password and MS Outlook as well as free Microsoft Mail does everything for user. Other than that it seems to be good feature rich email client.

KMail is super wonky, especially since you can no longer use it with Gmail. Thunderbird on the other hand it is possible. Evolution is a good client also.

I actually quite like Evolution. Well, I have to "work" with HCL Notes professionally, so I can only love any other mail client. But all in all I like (the paid) em client on Mac OS a bit more. Especially the integration of an Exchange account is sometimes very annoying with evolution. Also, I've seen evolution just "forget" my accounts twice.
