What Merced actually said was that "this specific suit is for this specific timeline in the story." Meaning in the story of this film, not this point in the overall DCU timeline. I wouldn't be surprised if they ditch the LordTech suits by the film's end. I think that's why she keeps gassing up the helmet specifically because it's the only part of the costume that's sticking around.

I personally believe that they have already found Hal & John. Also, John is clearly going to be the main Lantern of the DCU; IMO it would make sense to cast him first but then again when you find the right fit you must green

I want to point out the Engineer here. The look they have is a combination of the old chrome look and the look she have in the newer "The Wild storm " imprint (by Warren Ellis and Jon Davis-Hunt) from 2017.
There she walks around in normal clothes untill a predator looking ironman suit seeps out of her pores. It looks rather cool. Could be a good way for them to not constantly have her in CGI but looking more civilian untill she needs to fight.

I think this isn't Clark's first time around as in a little bit kingdom come like (disillusioned) but without the Trinity and bitterness angle, which is why we get the JLI/Lord angle .Lex is the main big bad but Lord is setting a seen for the future plot line.
