SMRT staff dies after sustaining severe injuries from workplace accident at Bishan Depot

An SMRT worker has died after being severely injured on the job at Bishan Depot. The transport operator said the technical officer had been operating a hydraulic press machine when the accident happened. He received first aid immediately and was sent to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. SMRT said it is assisting the relevant authorities with investigations. It has called a safety time out and suspended all similar maintenance works at the train depot.
