I love giving warm sponge baths. I do it every time I change a client. It not only cleans clients, it’s therapy. They get to wash their hands in the cleaning bowl. They are massaged, hair brushed, moisturized, and primped. One caregiver I relieved was almost upset that I used a warm wash up every time. This caregiver also was upset I did laundry each shift. I just know I treat others as I want to be treated. I never thought I’d be in this business but I love helping others.

What should you do when a patients doesn’t have the tools you sort of need? Things like a turn sheet when they have very little strength and can’t really turn themselves. Or for mostly immobile patients not having a transfer board so you’re having to carry their deadweight. How do you approach that?
