just buy a mirror with lights already on it, y’all. He said the cords held the risk of short-circuiting and if the wires are rewired incorrectly they could be a serious hazard.

My vanity is too small for that. And I'm not an electrician but I'm pretty sure that kind of wiring would short circuit and ultimately set your vanity and your house on fire.

While wire caps will work to keep the two wires together. Butt connectors would be a more secure fastener and are just as quick.

I'm pretty sure having a couple of push lights would be much safer than stripping and rewiring a powercord...

Why would I wanna hang any powdery stuff vertically? First, when it falls it's just ruined and you'll clean it up all day long (even more if it's very pigmented shadows) plus even when it doesn't fall, all the powder in those shared boxes will move and mix and it will be just one huge mess.
