I needed an electrician, called a Craig's Listed guy. He made an appointment to come look and price. He was right on time, in a clean but older truck. Was dressed nice and was easy to talk to, he sold me on his presentation. He was on time to do the job, worked without smoke breaks and loud radios, finished, cleaned up and said if I have any friends needing electrical work, please refer him. This guy is making a great living by doing it right, just like the Handyman.

Through hard work and paying as I go, I've done pretty well for myself. A few years ago I was having a financial conversation with a younger cousin. He asked why I didn't have a brand new truck, knowing how much I made, he figured I could afford one. I explained to him that I pay cash for vehicles and on track to retire at 50 with no mortgage or debts. He still did not understand and is currently driving a new BMW that cost more than he makes a year.

amen on the truck comment! As a customer, I look at what someone drives up in. When i see those $80, 000 trucks roll up I'm less likely to give them my business and most likely to buy their truck when the economy takes a dip and these guys have to sell all their toys!

I love your “buy a new truck” story. You are so right. A sign that someone is successful has nothing to do with shiny new trucks. I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota I use for my business. It’s well maintained, cost effective and still looks neat and clean so I will keep it until it becomes a problem. A successful, wealthy and wise man once told me “ It’s not how much money you make, it’s how much money you keep.”

When I show up to do stuff, I show up in a 90s Silverado... Its old but extremely popular where I live. Everyone loves em and even customers love it. They all know I slowed down due to my last one being totaled. I was rear ended. Paid 440 dollars, 26, 000 miles on the engine when I got it... I dont need a 80K, big truck, just need something that gets the job done... Scrapping use to be big here. I did almost 500 a week doing it, on top of other stuff... Prices are going back up but not like it use to be...

Buying a new truck is not an investment but a huge expense.

I made 3 bucks yesterday walking down the road picking up beer cans. It can only go up from here! My goal is to become an aluminum can scrap Barron.

People don't want to make $1, 000 a day. They want to spend $1, 000 a day

Liquor store in industrial area sounds like a killing. All those hard workers can grab booze on the way home. Maybe some while working I guess. 😂

I believe you, I made $1k a day twice this week. The most I've made in a day was $2250 so far. My future goal is $5k a day. I drive a 2001 suburban 2500. 😁 With Rust on it. I laugh all the way to the bank.

No wonder you make $1000 a day, you extend the video by 2 minutes to get that extra ad revenue :P

You are on point about the truck people don’t realize how much of a waste of money new vehicles are. The less money you spend on junk like that the more you actually make

you know I have personally heard people say that they would not hire me as a contractor because I drive a 2002 Chevy Epress cargo van and not a 2019 model. My car is flawless and is very well maintaned. I still get tons of business but I do hear people make old car comments occasionally. Those are also the same people that would pay $500 labor costs for replacing a toilet-which barely takes 30 minutes. But they pay that to folks that drive brand new cargo vans :)
