Avi Loeb suggested, an artificial construction made by an intelligent extra-terrestrial civilization? Since the mysterious traveler is out of the range of existing telescopes, there is only one way to find them. We go after it. New research outlines a mission called Project Lyra to send a probe to see if Oumuamua is as extraordinary as it appears.

I think it would be better to determine if 'Intelligent Life' exists on our Planet first....

Good luck catching it. If I remember correctly, it's travelling at around 130, 000mph. And it's got a 5 year head start.

I think we should go check out Oumamua !

My grandfather once said, "If it looks like doodee, move away from it."

0:47 - 0:53 … muamua was like, “yup no intelligent life here … peace out✌️ “

It was alien ship that took photo about primitive life for an alien tv show.

Generation ships might look just like large asteroid 's or moons. A very thick mantle, covered with space rubble over millions of years. Even if it is only an ancient museum, it would be their for someone to find.

I think wait for the next one. Mean time build generic probes and have them ready for quick launches for the next time something weird passes. Also maybe build a probe or two just to cruise the asteroid belt checking things out.

Its was doing 50km per second or 180000km per hour, have fun catching up to it after over 5 years head start. Better to build newer space telescopes that go to fainter magnitudes and detect more of these objects. One also has to be aware that the limited number of observations of Oumuamua still would have error bars on its velocity.

There’s also the black Knight satellite orbiting the planet.

We're desperately looking for intelligent life because there's none down here.

I think that's a powerful lost Interstellar spaceship send by a very advanced civilization millions of years ago 🙁.

Actually sending an appropriate space rock for travel and to travel would be quite clever. Mainly because it’s probably easier to send since it’s already in space and it’s discreet and not obvious.

Just space rocks nothing more why is this so hard to believe. Also we could never go after it because its way ahead of us and its going faster then any craft we have.

My guess would be whatever it was uses magnetic impulse acceleration or something similar that repels itself away from gravity, so the the larger the gravity pull, the faster would accelerates away from the gravity source.

Ouamua is alien probe capable of absorbing gravity and changing course and speed in a gravity well. Clearly these Aliens are sophisticated and have way better technology. Best not piss them off

If it is some kind of "dead" spacecraft, then we MUST go after it. The technology it could give us is too important to ignore.

I say we do everything that you suggested, including sending a craft to catch up with it and study it.

My opinion is that it is better to wait for a new visit. Maybe we will be better prepared.
To run after them is like running after a cat. If the cat doesn't want it, you don't catch it...

I believe your story about 15810 Arawn is a gross misinterpretation of the facts of the mission. There was no mysterious loss of signal when it approached 15810 because it never approached 15810 Arawn. The only unexpected communications problem occurred during the preparations for the Pluto flyby. The main cpu was overloaded because it was trying to do two things at once and could not keep up. It switched to secondary CPU and went into safe mode to wait on instructions from earth. Tech team figured it out and the Pluto flyby went very well. After the pluto fly by the spacecraft went to Arrokoth a kyper belt object that was better suited for the fuel supply. Observations were made of 15810 Arawn that allowed the determination of the spin rate. The spin has a period of 5.47 hours. The diameter is 145km. No problem for that size object to hold together at that spin rate. So no it is not spinning to create artificial gravity.
