Thanks for the early look, it's clear that Subaru had little to nothing to do with the design build of this thing as nothing about it is inline with the Subaru ethos. The spec's would have been okay if this was available two or three years ago... As someone who has owned 5 Subaru's and would like to move to an EV I find the Solterra very unimpressive. I hope they put the price lower than your guess in the video in order to be competitive on at least one metric!

220 miles range really doesn't cut it if you are "offroading" which usually means not close to fast charging. Add a bike rack or roof top tent and range is really short. At least its a start I guess.

220 miles of range would be acceptable IF the car can charge at 150kw for a majority of the charging session. If this EV only charges at 60kw, then it's a deal breaker for anyone even considering a road trip.

I’ve owned 5 Subaru’s and all of them been pretty reliable. I was 100% all in the purchase the Subaru Solterra. What’s holding me back from purchasing the Solterra is the electric range. 220 miles of range won’t cut for me. I make trips from Baltimore to New York about every 6 to 8 weeks. Where I’m going is about 210 miles. I was high on Subaru, but the Solterra disappointed me. Everything else was 100 % in except for the mileage range. If Subaru can convince me why I should consider the Solterra, I might buy it. I know there’s other electric vehicles in the same class offers more range than the Solterra. I’m planning to go back to the drawing board to look for an electric vehicle such as Tesla, Hyundai and possibly Ford because they have more range. If the Solterra had offered a range of 280 to over 300, I would consider it in a heartbeat. Sorry Subaru, you disappointed me. !!!

They really missed the mark on the range and storage space

I'm intrigued by the Solterra, but as someone who goes on 300+ mile daytrips several times a year to go kayaking in fairly remote areas, the range isn't there for me just yet. Currently a '21 Crosstrek owner, I would be interested in a Crosstrek EV though, something along those lines in size.

I see more of toyota than subaru here. I know that they are now together, but I wish they tried harder to keep the identity like hyundai does with kia. This looks very similar to the toyota ev i saw last time.

This plus the WRX…Subaru is in trouble and I say that as a Subaru owner and admirer.

You know what would be awesome? An all electric Baja!

Two-time Subaru Forester owner here, including my current daily driver. This should be a layup for me. But I've ordered a Mustang Mach-E instead. The Solterra is about as uninspired as they could possibly get.

Plus, there's a fatal flaw with this car: You will absolutely forget your phone in that cubby.

Love the idea and I love a Subaru, but we travel a lot to some rural areas. I need a longer range for weekend camping trips and day hikes. Probably going to have to stick with gas for a while longer unfortunately.

Great video on the new Subaru EV by Edmunds. I've owned 3 Subaru vehicles in the past 20 years and have influenced the purchase by 3 other friends to buy Subaru vehicles. That being said my opinion of this new EV with a Subaru badge on it is "Dead On Arrival". First and foremost its a Toyota with a Subaru badge on it regardless of what is said in this video. As news of Toyota's lobbying our government representatives to vote against pro EV policies and voting to the roll back of higher MPG ratings, I will no longer purchase any Toyota products, even if it has a Subaru badge glued on it. Second it the miserable battery range. No automotive manufacturer should bother to show up with a vehicle with anything less than a 300 mile range. So with these issues, I am passing on this SUV as "not a car I would purchase" and continue looking for a decent EV with a 300 mile plus range that doesn't look like some crazy artist project and is affordable.

As a former owner of different Subaru models throughout the years, from the 1983 DL to the 1998 Subaru Impreza, I was curious to know if there is an electric model and this is the first one I have found right in this video. Hope to see more standard Sedan and sport models with electric power train.

I would have liked to see a more sleek front giving sign of an EV. This one has a grille bigger than the one on my Outback, just covered by a plastic sheet.

We didn’t hear any information on what safety systems are in the vehicle. Will that be covered in a later video?

Unfortunately it looks too much like a RAV4 and the cladding is pretty hideous. Another SUV to get lost in the sauce.

Thanks for actually saying what the ground clearance is for what is claimed to be a crossover SUV. So many reviewers skip this. Have you reviewed the KIA EV6? Hard to find official numbers for it’s ground clearance.

Wonder if it comes with the all-new Eyesight X?
The 220 mile range is really a deal breaker.

This video is really helpful but.. how tall are you? Solterra looks like it’s barely bigger than Crosstrek. Do I have to have a fabric dashboard? Wtaf is that about?

If Kia/Hyundai can collaborate on vehicles with different interior/exterior design, not sure why Toyota/Subaru can’t.
