You're probably one of the best teachers of composition. Great content here.

As a minimalist myself, I can say, that the most important and first thing you should invest is a good speakers/headphone system. Everything else can be achieved by software until you get the corresponding hardware. I barely use my keyboard, as its a lot faster for me to draw in and humanize the midi.

I just compose with the FP-E50 and my computer.
My ideal plugins: Nucleus full, Micro strings, and 2-3 synths like serum and vital.

It's crazy how few options there are for midi controllers for dynamics. Even lesser known options go between 100-450 dollars.

Can you please share where and how did you get your first film and it's experience for upcomming composers..

I started with cubase and settled with logic due to midi flexibility (though not convince). Logic’s just got around to letting us set up midi ports alongside channels in arrangement view vice exclusively in the environment.

Marc maybe if you put Nucleus next to Albion 1 it would be useful to new people to say that Nucleus does have solo instruments: violin, cello, horn, trumpet, oboe and flute. In fact, that factor was definitive for me in order to purchase that library.

Nothing else, love your videos!!!

To compose music all one needs is a pencil (with eraser) and lots of blank manuscript paper. Nothing more, nothing less. To SEQUENCE music - to sequence the composition - it's nice to have all of this equipment. Better yet, use musicians to perform the composition.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Studio One for composing. Tried Cubase and Reaper but returned to Studio One. As far as MIDI controllers, I have tried a few. Short sliders could be quite limiting and usually quality of these sliders is far from perfect. Eventually, settled for Monogram, the sliders are 2.75 inches, not too long and not too short and great quality. Also I like a breath controller BBC2 by TEControl. It takes time to learn to use it but it's great once you get a hang of it, especially for solo instruments. Thanks for the video.

Ableton doesn't have timecode so it's not really for film composers.

Hello. Thx for the video
What about the presonus faderport 8-16 as midi controller as well ? Wouldn t it be a good option all in one for studio one user like me ? Or you still think it is better to get a separate midi cc controller next to it ?
