Taiwan local elections: China reacts to ruling party's loss as Tsai quits as DPP Party Chief | WION

China has sent out its message after ruling party's loss, Beijing said that the ruling Democratic Party loss showed that the public is standing for peace and stability in the island. China's Taiwan Affairs Officer stated that they will continue to work work with Taiwan's people to promote peace relations and firmly oppose Taiwan's independence.

Taiwanese people want peace not tensions

Tsai's political campaign as a whole revolve only around China's aggression. There are people in Taiwan who believes that President Tsai is deliberately and unnecessarily provoke China to get that sweet "China Aggression" narrative to came true. But what she have done this year with that Nancy Pelosi visit may be a bit too far for even for the people in Taiwan themselves. At the end of the day, most of Taiwan would rather keep the Status Quo than pushing toward more Independence or Re-integrate with China.

Well, there are also a theory about why Tsai's DPP losing the local election saying that while President Tsai seemed to have Pro-Independence or "Pro-Freedom" on her agenda which is almost always viewed favorably by the people, at the end of the day she and her government failed to deliver stability in the region. On top of that, she also personally appointed questionable officials in the past. These are probably the cause of the DPP's lost in the election

Both of the theories are probably the truth. All in all, i think people from the western world never noticed that Tsai and her party is quite backward on their domestic policy and the only way they could get away with that is by pointing toward China but now even provoking China's aggression can't help them.

Folks, this is why you need to be careful with politicians who only speaks about ideals like "Freedom", "Representation" and "Democracy" on their campaign, because they probably hides retarded policies behind that.

This defeat for the DPP clearly indicates most Taiwanese want a less confrontational stand towards Beijing.

Taiwan doesn’t want to end like Ukraine. As expected, “cocky” Tsai Ing-wen with visit from Nancy Pelosi’s nudge caused tensions in the peaceful island of Taiwan. Taiwan have spoken by voting her out.

KMT is the original Chiang Kai-Shek party who ruled Taiwan after its retreat in defeat in Republic of China....
