I travelled to Wuhan, China in 2023 and it was definitely NOT what I expected. So in this Wuhan travel vlog I share with you my first impression of Wuhan, my thought on whether Wuhan is worth visiting & what are the top things to do in Wuhan (if you do decide to visit).

0:0 What is Wuhan known for? (is Wuhan worth visiting?)
1:30 Wuhan was called the Chicago of China
3:15 I didn't expect to see THAT in Wuhan
4:20 Jianghan Road (Wuhan's main shopping / pedestrian street!)
6:30 Wuhan Riverside Park (must see in Wuhan for best skyline view!)
08:00 Let's address the elephant in the room...
10:00 A very eventful taxi ride in Wuhan ;) (my driver made fun of me lol)
11:50 Yellow Crane Tower (top place to see in Wuhan)
13:10 Hubu Alley (best place for street food in Wuhan)
16:15 Taking ferry on the Yangtze River (Wuhan's top attraction!)
18:05 Wuhan by night

I used to live in Wuhan as a kid. When I went back to visit, I couldn't recognize it. Cities change too much in China.

Wuhan is actually not close from Nanjing, the distance between two cities is around 600km, like from Berlin to Amsterdam. The reason you feel it close it's thanks to China's high speed rail system, allows you to travel 600km in three hours.

Wuhan is typically divided into 3 parts, Hankou stands for commerce and old money, Hanyang district stands for heavy industry and Wuchang+Hongshan district stand for culture. If you were still there, I would recommend you to visit the East Lake(Donghu), which is the largest city lake in China, and its beautiful.

This is the first city lockdowned during the covid pandemic. 13 million people. No in, no out. Amazing.

The Yellow Crane Tower is not a temple but a military watch tower to watch the river navy formation/training in the ancient times almost 2000 years ago, and it was at the outer-most location on the river. It is not the original but a replacement. The original one was 3 story, it was demolished to make way to for the first bridge in the 1950s by the Soviet engineers (they built half-way because Soviet-China split). The replacement tower is 5 stories, and built not as close to the river.

🤔😂 I didn't realize its so huge. I thought it was a village due to western media.

Thanks for showing the world this city. I don't understand why western knowledge of China is essentially 100% wrong. The information is out there, but most people don't bother to look and learn. Also, wrstern hostility towards China is wrong and misplaced, it's criminal and makes me sad. These people are not our "enemy" by any stretch of the imagination.

Thank you again for this interesting Wuhan walk around.
Also complement to you, your English is perfect. It has no trace of Polish language in any ways at least not to the ear😊.

Both Chicago and Wuhan have no seaports but major river ports. The European building were similar to those of Shanghai. Second Opium War 1858 Tianjin Treaty permitted invaders to occupy some districts in Shanghai and Wuhan. The river from Shanghai leads to Wuhan which was the second biggest trading hub with a million people. There were British, Russian, French, and Belgium districts, Japanese came later. The building might be nice but not a glorious part of history.
