Wow, I didn't know this either, now I gotta go through all my junk silver nickels, thanks!

1942-S also contains silver. It’s interesting that Denver is the only mint that didn’t produce silver nickels in 1942

Great info! I was once a longtime novice collector. I had a very large collection but no idea the worth. But I was that person collectors dream about. Went through a divorce and was desperate for money. I sacrificed my whole collection by rolling them up and putting them in a bank. I was crushed. Whoever got them, I'm sure was surprised, if they knew anything about coins. Thinking about getting back into it again. Thanks for the video Jeff

Awesome information thank you for this! I keep a healthy amount of my precious metals in a form that can be used easily for barter and transacting, war nickels & silver dimes & goldbacks are perfect for this application for me.

no doubt you know this but pre 1964 dimes quarters half dollars and dollars all have silver. but 1964-1870 kennedy half dollars also have silver. 40% instead of 90%. there is also a silver sound. you can hear silver in coins when clinked with other coins. helps detect fakes.

This is very informative great job! I still love war time coins and war time memorabilia so even if they are 0% silver I still love coins minted from 39-45.

As long as you got the big mark at the top, you have silver, actually my favorite silver coins because a lot of times you can get them well below spot and their piece of history. I also save any before 1960 they will be worth more in the future. I recommend all the same, and also the 1942 with the demon mark is a rare coin so it’s not jumped by far, probably worth most silver nickels at melt

Great information Jeff! I’m curious if you have found any interest in collecting star note bills? I usually try to check all my bills incase it’s a star note.

Those were the days when money had actual value.🧐

I have a few of these, don't have all the dates and mint marks, I would have dig them out to see which versions I have, but regardless of silver content I'm keeping all I have from that period

Silver War Nickels are NOT Constitutional Silver. That terms ONLY applies to 90% pure Silver coins. Silver War Nickels are ONLY those coins produced from 1942 to 1945 that have mint marks P, D, or S above the Monticello, excepting the D from 1942. Those are Silver war Nickels. Anything else is not a Silver war Nickel.

When the financial system collapses your 100 pounds of gold will not be enough to buy my can of spam. Now bullets on the other hand we might be able to strike up a deal.

Your title is like a gimmicky commercial.

It would have been nice if you had pointed out the fact that people should not invest in these because most coin shops do not buy them. It costs too much to retract the silver so most people don't want to buy them.
