The EU is planning to introduce a €7 (£6) EU visa waiver for some non-EU citizens by summer 2025.

Under new rules, visitors from a list of non-EU countries, including the UK, will need to apply for a waiver, similar to a US Esta, before travelling to 30 countries in Europe.

The EU has not yet announced a firm start date for the scheme.

BBC conveniently ''forgot'' to mention that UK was part of the team that came up with this idea BEFORE they left the EU

UK voted twice for this. 1)Creating the scheme while still in the EU 2)Getting it applied upon themselves when voting Brexit…

Dear brexiteers: ETIAS was proposed BEFORE the referendum, and UK was in favour of it.

Shock news... People who voted in favour of restricting free movement outraged to find that movement will no longer be free.

The irony is that the UK voted for this when in the EU. Its only 6 quid, if you can't afford that you should not being going on holiday.

How dare the EU treat us as if we left the EU, just because we left the EU

“I think it’s typical of the EU.” Both of these systems were adopted when the UK was a PART of the EU.

Brits complaining forget that this policy isn’t aimed at Brits only. It is aimed at many other nationalities, Americans, Canadians, Aussies and others

Typical of EU? Hell no, having a system to enter a country is totally normal everywhere in the world. Free movement is just a perk of the EU.

For a standard visitor visa to the UK it is £115 and it lasts for 6 months.

£6 and 3 years and everyone is whining 😂

Brexiters: we need secure borders
Brexiters: complain when the EU make their borders secure

The British have always been half-hearted members of the European Community and have always spoken of the United Kingdom and Europe as two separate entities. After their official exit, they are experiencing the full consequences. Good for

Irish passport now seems to be worth alot now. Freedom to travel work and live in the UK and also the EU

Typically European??? You, Brits, voted for it twice. If anything, it is too permissive and easy.

This is a non story. It costs about £17 to get an ESTA for USA. Nobody complains about it and it doesn’t make the news. Brexiteers voted to be out and this is one of the costs of being out of EU. I’m not happy about it because I was/am a “remoaner” but it’s now the “Brexiteers” doing all the whining!

What amazes me is that everyone seems to be concerned about paying a few pounds, completely ignoring the massive privacy issue of having their fingerprints taken!

Wait but they wanted Brexit in order to protect their borders and now they are mad the EU is protecting it's borders? Double standards much?

"I voted to leave."

Well, that's your fault then.

This was agreed when the UK was still part of the EU. Why are we crying about this now?
