Wrapping up her senior year and first season as @umichband Michigan Marching Band's 57th drum major, Biomedical Engineering student, Rachel Zhang, sat down with us at Michigan Stadium to tell us a little more about who she is. Zhang is also a pre-med student. She talks about why she chose Michigan, how the engineering skills she learns in class apply to marching band, and her experience as an out-of-state student. Finally, Zhang discusses her favorite engineering class and her thoughts on Michigan's Biomedical Engineering department and curriculum.

Perhaps a million have marched in college level marching bands. A handful have been selected to twirl. A miniscule fraction has ever been drum major. Good on you. When you are old like me, it will still be an achievement that will bring you joyous memories.
