To improve public transport safety, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced a draft law to fine men who trespass on women-only coaches.

This follows an MRT incident where a man scolded a woman for reprimanding him in a reserved coach.

We spoke to commuters to find out if penalties will effectively prevent men from entering these designated spaces.

The time that the train stops should be the time that the guards at the station check the women coaches. I also agree with having a guard on the coach during the train ride

Confusion only arises when there is mix of male and female passengers e.g. family, brother & sister.
Install electronic screen, sticker, poster to remind them that when there are mix of passengers, the whole members should sit at male coach.
Experienced commuters have no problem following the rules. The whole families sit in the male coach. But some countries that don’t have gender segregation and make complain on petty issues are the one that have commotion e.g. Singapore.

Fine is not enough especially for the foreigner and the rich one, they can pay the fine. The government should penalised them by doing comunity services for 2 days. If foreigner who are caught they are given first warning to move to other coaches but if they refuse than they will be detained for the penalty. There should be a police women in the coaches to monitor this activities.

How about enforcement? If there are strong enforcement, there is no need fotr women's coaches in the 1st place.
