I bought one for my parents back in 1999. They paid $2700 and it came with a mindblowing NVidia TNT2 (pre-geforce 1), 256 megs of ram, 40 gig hard drive, and a single core burning 733 mhz pentium III! I put Redhat 1 and SuSE Linux 5.x?? and had KDE 1 on it until my Mom wanted WIndows 98 SE again. They used it all the way until 2007 when Win98 hit EOL.

Since you're installing so many operating systems, you should make a universal deployment image and up it somewhere for the subscribers to run it in a VM or natively on hardware . That would be really cool.

OMG
I had a vague memory of installing "Vienna something" on my old Dell test rig before I ripped out the parts and lost them. I thought it was Win Vista Vienna edition.
Now I know: it was WinXP Vienna Edition! Thx!!!

You could review Windows 7 Aero Blue Lite edition, made by the same people behind Windows XP Gold.

Is it just me, or was there something really special about PCs from the 386 era up until Windows Vista era? I think it was a REALLY fun time to be a PC enthusiast, more fun than it is now imo.

The Windows 98 640x480 16 color mode kills me. If you install proper drivers, everything will work as intended and you can have a full resolution 32-bit color display, as well as sound and such. You can also format Windows 98 partitions as FAT32 in the Windows 98 CD and use the full drive.

I remember when I was a kid my uncle had this weird version of XP on his computer, it was something starting with an E. It had the MediaCenter theme and the "Vista Bliss" but that's all that I can remember about it. I've been looking for it for ages

I’ve installed this on a VM, but I idiotically compressed my boot loader (BOOTMGR)on my real computer. And you’re meant to fix it with a USB, but...

_I lost it a few weeks prior._

I installed Windows XP Vienna on a Pentium MMX 200 MHz with 128 MB of RAM.
Not the fastest but works fine. install takes 2 or 3 Hours to Install.

I recently got my grandmother's old Dell Dimension. Some very interesting things about it, such as that it has separate DVD ROM and CD writer drives. It actually has a sound card in it (likely because it also came with the Zylux powered speaker system.) It has 512 MB of ram and an 80 GB HDD. It has the certificate for Windows XP Home Edition, though it actually runs Professional. My grandmother mostly used it for business, so she probably had it custom ordered with Windows XP Professional, but then wouldn't they put a Windows XP Professional certificate sticker on it?

Since it actually meets minimum requirements for Windows Vista, I will burn a Vista image and see how it handles running Vista. I'll first try Home Basic, then i'll move down to Lite. May upload a video of it.

You should check out "Windows Vienna" if you don't know what it is it's an OS based on Windows Vista that is modified and changed.
