I just installed the DX11 and texture patch for Crysis 2. I can say that there is a huge improvement over the DX9 from original release. I am testing the game on our new flagship system, which consists of:
Lian Li PC Q08
Core i5 2500k @ stock (until Zotac Z68 is released)
ASRock H67M-ITX/HT
8 GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance memory
1 TB Western Digital Black Hard Drive (SSD coming soon)
Asus GTX 590
Corsair H50 CPU cooler
Corsair AX750 PSU
Samsung Blu Ray Drive

Overall the FPS dropped maybe 20FPS with the upgrade but, still plays over 60. If you would like any specific gameplay, don't hesitate to ask.

@BlueCaliSurfing Yes, just set the save to folder as the flash drive. Just a heads up fraps does take up a lot of space.

Nice gameplay, what's the software for this video? Fraps + sony vegas?

Can't believe my GPU which is considered as a higher mid-end range these days, is more powerful than the most powerful GPU from the 2010-2011s.

@AllofVideos
To be honest with you, a sandy bridge, for a fifth of the price of a 990x, will be better for gaming. I'm not talking about performance/price ratio. I'm talking about simple performance, regardless of how much it costs. A 2500k/2600k will be better than a 990x, whereas the 990x will only shine in applications that take advantage of its 6 cores (which is not the case of games). By the time gaming takes advantage of 6 cores, an hexacore ivy bridge (hello 6 ghz) will be out.

@bimmermann18 Hello, i beleve you can change the fps limit of fraps recording by going into fraps, go to the " movies " tab and change video capture settings to full size 60 fps is the highest none custom size but you can also make your own size, im quite sure this will remove the limit. if it does not then it is just the fact of having fraps on at the same time that you are getting the slight stuttering. great vid aswell thank you very much

@GiovaniGames actually, 1/60th of your wage.
So, people who cant afford to buy this PC:
jobless, asylum seekers, tramps, kids, living by yourself on minimim wage.
but many people here still dont buy it anyway, they prefer to spend their money on other luxury things ...like spend £500 on a football (soccer) season ticket

Doesnt seem to play over 60 FPS which kinda disturbes me cuz i was about to get this card and i have the same system as he does. Seems like its under 40 fps but maybe thats just the recording of the gameplay? any suggestions? thx

Better explaination is that i want more flow on the FPS. but its maybe the recording as i said.

with the 3rd party high textures mods as well as the official ones this game actually looks as good as it should have from the start. Glad BF3 is having a proper PC version not a port like this game was. WARHEAD on enthusiast is harder on my system then c2 on highest settings with dx11. The game was ok all graphics bitching aside though.

@ShootDattBitch Sigh.... Like i said... AI, Physics, coordinates and other intensive calculations are based in the cpu not the gpu. Just look up on youtube "ncix bottleneck" and check your spelling mistakes also! I ran Crysis 2 Max settings 1200p on a gtx 550ti with and i7 2600k 50fps avg.

DX10 had a lot missing. DX11 fixed those missing things, and added Tessellations, which increase realism in games. The technology is still in the works, but in a few years (like 2) DX11 (or 11.1 which comes with Windows 8) will perfect the technology.

an Asus GTX 590? Wow, talk about overkill, whoever bought it must be loaded you could build a damn fine and capable gaming PC for the price of that GPU alone, Amazon has it for like $1300 I think, and other GTX 590's for $750 to $850.

@bimmermann18 How do you tell if you have a 2nd revision GTX590? I have 2x GTX590 Ultra Charged ... Blowing up was because of too much over volting due to overclocking and now fixed through Nvidia drivers ( no user voltage control ) ... thanks :)

Can you also help me with that. I have 2k$ with me but I don't know how to build computers. Do you know a certain type of computer that you would recommend that would handle this graphics along with bf3 ultra graphics?

@Raiden1091 For playing single player games I would recommend a controller, so you can just lean back and relax, instead of leaning over for keyboard and mouse. But when online, your shit if you use controller :) True story

@GiovaniGames in England, minimum wage here is £10k /year (into your bank).
PC with this spec costs maybe £1500, it will last minimum 2 years, say 3? that is £500/year for this type of PC.
1/20th of your wage.

I've seen this game on an AMD Phenom II x8 with x2 ATi Radeon 6990 DX11, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 256GB SSD (dedicated to OS), and 1TB HDD with a 1800x2600 NEC display.

It ran 120fps at extreme settings with x32 AA

@911Megalomaniac well, it runs smooth on my 580's sli with dx11 patch.. havent encountered any fps drop or any lag. try to check for the latest catalyst driver or try to fresh install your os

your cpu seems to be a huge bottleneck, try upgrade to i7 2600k which is like £100/£150 more than the i5 but it improves the physics, ai and calculations speed then it'll be smooth like a baby's bottom :)

@erikosius Thanks man. Yeah, its capped at 30 FPS from Fraps settings. I paid about $1700 at the time for the build but, you should be able to get some of the parts for much cheaper. If you plan on putting a GTX 590 or 6990 in this case, I suggest re-applying thermal paste to the heatsink or put a slim 120mm fan on the bottom.
