Awesome as always. 3 of the best amps ever made in 1 shot. That rev f sounds great :)

Love the full-bodied tone of the Mesa and great mid-push coming from the Marshall. I bet they sound absolutely massive together. Cheers!

Nice bite from the Marshall and Mesa has just a lil more thump. Love them both. Great captures and playing!

I'm a Marshall guy but every time you switched to that Mesa it was undeniable

You can notice some difference between the amps. However, it's not that big. Mesa has more bass.

Both awesome in their own way. But dude, that Recto sounds huge!

RevF sounds awesome Blake! Loving the Around The World In 30 Days! Still a great riff.

In my teens and 20s in the 90s and 00s I preferred the Mesa. Lots of people back then liked rackmounted pres like the Triaxis and a 90:90.

These days I prefer the JCM 800 with a Tube Screamer up front. Just like the thrash guys did in the 80s.

The JCM800's focus on the upper mids keeps it tight and gives the bass a place to live in the mix. Whatever gain the amp lacks is made up by the pedal and/or pickups. If it's dialed in right in my plugins it comes across like a 5150 but less harsh.

The Dual Rec can sound huge but flabby if not dialed in correctly. It has always been a challenge for me to get a sound I like out of it.

When it does work, I like to use the Dual Rec for more scooped rhythm tones with medium-high output PAF inspired pickups: Duncan Custom/Custom 5, Gibson 498t, and so on. I find Dual Rec plugin emulations can vary widely in quality.

The real Dual Rec is nice and thumpy for Godsmack/Creed/Volbeat tones. Great definition and chunk on the power chords if dialed in correctly.

I think I'd ultimately like the Dual Rec mixed in with a Mark series amp like Devin Townsend used to do it in Strapping Young Lad. Then you get thump and mids.

Great video. Seeing these two classics side by side is like having two vintage V8 muscle cars in your garage. The Soldano makes it even better.

Obviously there is a boost in the JCM 800. What boost are you using?

I bet both amps at the same time might knock your house down 😂

No way that Recto has that much gain without a boost…at least in the half dozen I’ve played. But if it does…then you have a good one.

Edit - Yeah…a JCM 800 doesn’t get that distorted without a boost?

Sounds awesome man. What boost did you use?
