Betta Fry Development: From Day 1 to Show size!

This video will give you an impression of the average growth rate & development of the fry in my "Betta Territory" from day one to show size!

The fry featured in this video are from two spawns:
Because the color of the parents of both spawns is so different it is not problem to let the fry grow up together as I can trace their heritage easily back based on their color phenotype.

The color of the offspring is depending on the genetic traits the parents are carrying and how they are inherited. More information on this can be found in the following videos:

I appreciate you for making this video! I had just rescued two very young Betta fry earlier today (December 28, 2020) and was desperately trying to find the age of these two youngsters. They're both the same length (roughly 1.125"), although Dip seems slightly older than Dot. Since doing more research, I have since concluded that Dot is likely 5-6 weeks old, Dip being around 7-8 weeks old. So, again, I must thank you for sharing your experience and informative video! 😁

So informative! Thanks! A few questions. How large should grow out tank be? Is 10gal enough? How do you maintain the jars after separating the males? Daily water change?

Hey so I got a male and a female betta fish two days ago and they already laid eggs yesterday. It's first time owning fishes and I'm trying to get it right. I separated the female fish because that's what all my research said. But I don't really know where to go from here. When do I seperate the Male fish? How long do the eggs take to get to the first stage you showed? Also I got a tiny bowl for the fish because I didn't anticipate them laying eggs so when can I transfer them to a bigger tank so they can grow adequately? It would really great if you can answer me. I'm super new at this and I really want to do this right.

Is there such a thing as an aquarium so large or built in such a way that it can house more then one male Betta and multiple females? Not thinking about doing it just wondering because Bettas are usually in such small tanks.

I have about 200 fry that hatched six days ago. I've been feeding them baby brine shrimp and Hikari first bites. So far, so good. I'm wondering what to do with them all later on..

The mother of my fry was 7 weeks and 4 days old (53 days old) when she laid eggs for the first time. I change the water every day over 50%, and twice a day after after day 42, when I begin to distinguish between males and females.

I have a question, you bred 2 mustard gas but the baby fry that comes out of it are mostly pure blue and mostly yellow, but didnt inherit the blue and yellow mixed colors from their parents, why did that happen?

Adorable kinda like baby chickens but don't have to worry about predators..they respond to a kind voice especially when it's time to eat.

Great channel and video Joep!

Do you have any experience with breeding wild type bettas?
When I compare my smaragdina fry with the ones in your video, my fry didnt seem to have the fase of not being able to support whole body during swimming with the swim bladder stretching.. can you share your experience?
