There's a pink lake in Serbia, about an hour's drive from where I live. People there were drilling a well and accidentally hit the underground source of salty, pink water. After that discovery, they changed plans: instead of working the land, they excavated an area and built an artificial lake and a spa facility, since the water is thermal and has healing benefits. It's called "Pačir Banja" and it's getting more popular every year.It's an opportunity to enjoy swimming in the salty sea water without having to endure high prices in Croatia and Montenegro.

But as someone who grew up in the wilds of East Africa..and traveled many times into the "outback"..It always felt like we were intrepid explorers..seeing amazing people and places that few had seen. The fear I have is that with the ability to explore earth so much more now with drones..that the "awe" of earths wonders are more likely to be spoiled.
We lived near the "lip plate" tribes..and they have been
overrun by tourists..Life has changed completely..and not all for the better.

I find a lot of your stories here are of interest, but it is annoying that many of the photos you post are not actually of the site or information you are referencing. Like showing various different sinkholes when referring to the ONE you're actually talking about!

What I'm finding to be super intriguing is that that DOOR TO THE GODS in Peru, or number 5, is exactly like doorways found in the ruins of the Anasazi or Pueblo people. Maybe some very small differences, but I really can not think of one right at this moment or ever. That's pretty darn trippy .

Hmmmm, 'drone technology', or an aeroplane/helicopter, Google maps, local knowledge, and generally just being aware of these locations prior to drones even existing in many of the cases!
