This cooking channel is the only channel I have found where it feels like I can find the ingredients at the local Kroger or Walmart and actually do these. It makes me happy. I tried the smothered potatoes recently and I loved it.

"If you come in here and take a look, there's not a lot of ingredients. People tend to overthink it!!' Isn't that the truth? You hit the nail right on the head. Sometimes the best things are so simple. A few quality ingredients, along with proper preparation with care and pride, you can create some of the most amazing and flavorful food. Simplicity! You let the ingredients speak for them selves and not overdo it with a ton of herbs and spices. Here I can see you're really highlighting the beans allowing them to take center stage and showcase them. GREAT recipe and technique!

I always put my cornbread in the bowl and pour the beans on top of it . Yummy

That's how my dad taught me to make beans! I really like the idea of using turkey instead of pork once in awhile. The only difference between the way we cook this is that I like to add red chili flakes to "kick it up a notch."

This guy is the best southern cook on the Internet. I used his gumbo recipe and it’s legit the best gumbo I’ve ever had

I was raised on pinto beans with ham/salt pork and corn bread. We ate that at least twice a week. Sometimes mom would substitute navy beans. Still love them.

Those look so good, AB. My wife used to make soup beans and cornbread every year in the fall. She used smoked ham hocks. I couldn't get enough. I would eat until I didn't think I would ever need to eat again. Then, I would hit them again the next day. Thanks for posting.

My mother used to make this when I was growing up. But we would either have it with cornbread or biscuits on the side. Either way It was SO yummy..😋
