About Lizard Skins

Lizard Skins has been in business for the past 20 years manufacturing and distributing bicycle accessories around world. In January of 2011, Lizard Skins officially launched a new product into the baseball industry.

DSP (DuraSoft Polymer) bat wrap was created based off of the highly successful DSP handlebar tape for road bikes. Utilizing our knowledge and experience in developing grips, Lizard Skins designed and created this new innovative bat wrap. Lizard Skins received "Best of Show" award for new product at the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Lizard Skins DSP bat wrap is becoming very popular and our product is different because it is made out of polymer. The enhanced feel, multiple color options and two thicknesses separate our wrap from other bat tape. It works well on all types of aluminum, composite and wood bats. DSP is used in all levels of play from little league to high school, from college to the pros. Make DSP bat wrap your choice for bat tape. Touch it, Feel it, Love it.

Since 1993 Lizard Skins has created products to meet the needs and wants of sports enthusiasts around the world. With a wide variety of hi-performance products including the new unique DSP Bat Wrap, Lizard Skins always aims to help you maximize your performance.

Our expertise in grips helped us foresee that players wanted different options to customize the feel and thickness of their bat handle. Unfortunately, bat manufacturers and aftermarket grips sold at retail had never specified the grip size. As a result, Lizard Skins created the thickness category. DSP bat wrap was originally released in two different thicknesses – 1.8 mm to match average industry sizes and 1.1 mm to provide a new thinner option. After further testing, a key group of MLB players requested an even thinner grip that would provide all the same gripping properties but not increase the handle thickness. Thus, the 0.5 mm thickness was created to meet the high-performance demands of the world’s most competitive athletes.

The popularity of all 3 thicknesses has established the custom grip market as we predicted. Now players of all classes and skill levels can customize their bat with Lizard Skins DSP bat wrap.

Just wrapped my son's bat with the 1.8 and it is as easy as it looks. Some advice for those using the 1.8: Use an one dot overlap with a tape that thick. I did, and thank goodness. A two dot overlap would have felt like a sponge. Also, the 1.8 finishing tape is thick. Just the electrical tape will do unless you want the cosmetic effect.

I just put some on my bat and the biggest thing to not get wrinkles is to stretch it a little bit

Does it matter which direction you wrap? How tight should you pull it as you go? How much overlap is recommended? About how far down the bat does it cover if you go one dot overlap? ...2 dot overlap?
Why are none of these obvious answers covered?

Can you use this on bike handlebars for better comfort and grip?

What's the feeling on adding wrap overtop of existing? I have a brand new Miken bat and it has a fairly thin handle area. There's nothing wrong with the wrap, but I'd like to add some thickness. Can I use .5mm or 1.1mm and go right over top?

Are you stretching it here? because I just did mine and it’s wrinkled up and did not go very far up the bat. Just wasted a whole strip.

On the amount of overlap, one of your distributors suggested either a "1 dot" or "2 dot" overlap. This video didn't specifically offer how much overlap it should be. Please advise. Thx!
