Thanks for watching everyone. We charge very little to trim these neglected cases. Many of you want us to report the owners. While this seems like a good idea, it sure would keep these horses from coming to our school for help. Many owners would fear the consequences of getting help. We keep it anonymous and recommend more frequent farrier care. This helps us leave the door open for horses that need help.

Please subscribe and share these videos your friends so we can keep doing this work we love! It is free for you to subscribe and it helps us and these horses so much!

I dated a ferrier. We'd go for drives and if he saw a foundered horse he'd go back to the farm and offer his services for free. Horses Loved him ❤

That fact that you got something out of that mess that even resembles a normal hoof is absolutely amazing.

Man, that was hard to watch. I’m so thankful you’ve got the knowledge and skill to do this horse some justice!

I learned something years ago when being an amateur farrier. Never underestimate the strength of a farrier.
Their core strength is unbelievable.

Who in the HELL let this horse’s hooves get this bad? Whoever it is doesn’t need to have ANY more animals if they can’t do better than that. God bless you Sir for taking care of this beautiful animal.

Why is this not criminal neglect? It took YEARS for this to happen.

The amount of science and craftsmanship that goes into helping these horses is just astounding. I hope his owner brings him in more regularly so he can get back to a normal life!

That poor horse, he must've been in so much pain! his hooves look so much better when you're done, i'm sure he'll feel amazing in comparison once he gets used to them being a proper length again.

Thank You so much for helping this poor horse! An owner does not have to be very smart to know how bad the horse’s hooves are!! People without empathy should not be allowed to own a horse!!!

PLEASE do a follow up video for this horse, Id give anything to see him moving around more naturally and looking a lot happier than he did. Very good job and thank you for helping him!

This is my 4th time watching this video, I can only speak for myself but I like the way you describe the hoof what we’re looking at and then your game plan or goal. No loud music just informative narration and demonstration of the proper technique, thank you again.

I do admire this guy for not berating the owners but instead he just gets on with giving relief to the horse.

To me, you farriers are the most unbelievably valuable skilled labor in the world!! There is really no profession that requires so much painstaking, careful foresight!
And to free a suffering creature from such misery!
God bless you!

RESPECT! Hand trimming is no joke. I follow a hoof trimmer for cattle in Scotland and he uses a grinder. Sticking to the old ways where you can feel every cut is an art. Much respect. This is HARD work and takes maximum skill. Bravo. Being a Ferrier is NO JOKE. It takes skill and you really have to be in shape to not only cut the hoofs, but manage a sedated horse when necessary. Horses are heavy, and if you're trying to keep a horse upright under light sedation while manually trying to trim the hoofs, that's strength and skill.

I hope the owner does come back in the 6-8 week period and that you could film the followup work, I would be interested in following this horse. Thank you for showing that even with foot neglect, a well trained and experienced farrier can bring the horse back to healthy feet.
