Making Viking style helmet / Výroba vikingské helmy

In the first phase was necessary to find out size of the helmet. I used a lot of paper to find size out. I cut strips of mild steel and bend them into the desire shape by tube after gluing frame of helmet from the paper and check of the size. Then i drilled some holes for screws. After screwing up the frame from steel, came up on time inner plates. It toke me approximately 4 hours of net time. Then I had to drill holes into the plates and screw it together. Then was time for front mask where I toke inspiration from "Gjermundbu" helmet. I was treated the steel by metal brush and oil before riveting. Inner surface of the helmet was painted by black paint, because of sweat. After that I had to replaced each screw by screw with rivet. Each rivet was hand riveted by hammer. Then I started with decoration with simple patterns/lines. Then was time for ring mail. I sewed the inner lining and connect it by leather strip riveted inside of helmet. Last thing was finishig ring mail according to my desire. /// V první fázi jsem musel zjistit velikost helmy, v čemž mi pomohlo spousty papíru. Po slepení rámu z papíru a vyzkoušení jsem nařezal pruhy oceli, ohnul je do požadovaného tvar přes trubku a navrtal díry. Po sešroubování přišly na řadu vnitřní pláty. To mi zabralo asi 4 hodiny čistého času. Navrtat pláty a sešroubovat pro zkoušku. Pak přišla na řadu přední maska, nechal jsem se inspirovat "Gjermundbu" helmou. Před nýtování jsem ošetřil ocel kovovým kartáčem a naolejoval. Vnitřní stranu jsem ještě natřel barvou, kvůli potu. Poté jsem šroub za šroubem nahradil kovovým nýtem, ručně rozbouchaným. Jako další přišlo na řadu zdobení jednoduchými vzory. Následně jsem se pustil do kroužkového opletu. Sešil jsem vnitřní vystýlku a připevnil ji pomocí přinýtovaného koženého pásu uvnitř helmy. Pak už jen zbývalo dokončit kroužkový oplet dle vlastního uvážení.
