300 BPM Speed Picking | Technique Analysis & Demonstration

Today we check out some fast picking as I put my hands to the test for this technique analysis and demonstration! PLEASE REMEMBER: technique is just one small part of playing guitar and I made this video as a test for the alternate picking technique I developed over the last years, mainly to see where I'm at right now and what I can improve in the future. Developing a fast picking technique gives you more freedom and possibilities creatively - but for me, it also has to serve the song in some way. Overall I just love nerding out about all things technique :)

Ridiculous! Nice job that.

6 months ago what you did was nonpossible, now I'm nowhere near your level but the possibilities are endless. And this is from a guy past half a century old.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

I really appreciate the fact that you added that disclaimer about technique. Many young players who are still learning may never play a style that requires speed like this. The effort to learn how to play fast and with precision is well worth the effort. 👍

I had been watching lectures @ 1.5 speed.
Forgot to switch back to standard speed. That is why my face has been completely melted.

after ability of playing 300 bpm absolutely clear i don't really understand what do you want to improve man.
You are already an absolute shreading beast, you understood it all.Your technique is off charts.
I wish i could play like this but shreading is not really my thing

Sounds as fast as MAB...very impressive!

It's crazy that since the 80s guitar top speed increased by so little. In late 70s people were still playing typical rock solos and in the 80s out of nowhere you'd have guys like Paul Gilbert picking triplets at 280 bpm

so smooth. could you please make a video of how you personally hold the pick and choice of fret fingerings?

Hello Maestro. Could you share what application/software/ you use to slow down the video in the clip?
I admire everything you do.

Hey Bernth, would you maybe mind explaining your technique concerning string switching at higher tempos (i.e. pick slanting) Awesome video as always, nevertheless

hmm is it just all one pickslating motion or involves both pickslating techiniques? in that case, it must be quite hard to do

Talent lives here, I thought the speed came from the computer which you get from anger & frustration when you constant your way to a building dedicated to learning how to play this instrument that cures.
