Orthodox Christianity (and Russian Culture in General) are very beautiful. Much respect for upholding your traditions and respecting your history despite the vandalism of communism.

I am not surprised that after 80years of communism the Russian people kept their belief.I am Greek Orthodox and thanks to our ancestors who were under ottoman rule for over 400 years fought them and kept their belief and language.

As an American Protestant Christian, I’m astonished that after 80 + years of religious suppression, the Russian people’s faith survived and now thrives. The Gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be erased. God is indeed at work in the world today. God bless the Russian people, their faith and their beautiful cathedral. As I’m watching this, Notre Dame cathedral in Paris reopened 4 days ago. Praise be to God. 🙏✝️

Being able to experience such beauty in person must be such a blessed privilege. I’m very envious.

*Ivan the Formidable. Nobody in Russia calls their beloved tsar "terrible". He was far less cruel than Henry VIII or other European monarchs. The blinding of the architect is an urban legend from the west with no historical basis.

As an Orthodox Christian I loved this video, I would only add one correction, the Pope through one of his Cardinals issued their separation from the Orthodox.

Orthodoxy did not separate from Catholicism, they separated from us.

The Eastern Orthodox Church of Russia is the soul of that nation. This soul is manifested through the hearts of the Russian faithful. There is no doubt, God loves them.

Love the Orthodox churches, they can be so inspiring. Also that the Orthodox religion is practically alone it seems in for the most part refusing to "transition" to ugly modern buildings, are still capable of building them. These traditional Russian architects are undersold

My city in Florida has at least two Orthodox Churches and my cousins in Illinois are Orthodox. It's a lovely service. Happy Christmas!

Some notes:
1. This church never was a cathedral (bishop's see) in strict sense
2. Exotic painted roofs were added only in XVIII century, initially it looked more simply and austere

You are wrong. The Catholics separated from the One Holy and Apostolic Church, which left the Eastern Orthodox Church alone to carry on the original Christian Faith.
