“Why is a million dollar five axis mill turn better?” Probably because it’s a million dollar five axis mill turn.

0.002mm is 0.00007874 inches. It is impossible to have produced that part to that precision without allowing it and the machine tool to cool to room temperature in a controlled environment before making a finishing pass.

The 4 digits displayed on hand tools used for measuring metric dimensions leads untrained and unskilled workers to a false conclusion about precision. Thermal expansion makes any reading beyond 2 decimal places nothing but noise.

In contrast, it is possible (though still difficult) to take accurate measurements to 4 decimal places with hand tools designed for the decimal inch system.

Cool trick, but that continuous tool path won’t work so well after the machine gets piled up for the first time.

I don't understand where the exta two axis come from. Am I wrong in thinking only 3 exist? Or does the same movement from the chuck get counted as its own?

That’s all a waste of a 5 axis tool path.
