BLM campaigners challenge why Germany does not collect ethnicity data

Modern Germany has been shaped by how the country has faced its own Nazi and colonial past.
-----------------------
But because the country does not collect data on ethnic minorities, campaigners say discrimination isn't being documented and that's allowing racism to flourish.

Why are people still obsessed with race and colour?

To be clear -- Germany is not exactly a hotbed of "police brutality". And "Mohr" was never a derogatory term for "Black". It was simply an old alternate spelling of the English word "Moor", never meant as a pejorative, but also referred to "the holy Mauritius", a Roman officer of Egyptian extraction who refused to combat the Christians in the 3d century, and was therefore held in high esteem for 1500 years all over Europe. There is no racism in any of this. In fact, it is a common surname. The street is to be renamed after Anton-Wilhelm Amo (1703-1753), philosopher and Germany's first Black professor. Ironically, Amo referred to himself as a "Mohr" and even wrote a treatise on the rights of "Mohrs" in Europe. He was freed from slavery in Germany and provided with a Humanist education by the ruler of the small state of Braunschweig who noticed his talent, eventually went back to Ghana.

Perhaps they just think a German is a German and treat everyone the same regardless of features such as skin colour (surely, that would be ideal wouldn't it?).

Because - BLM there is no need for that in Germany. Blacks born in Germany have no problems, they attend the same schools, get the same jobs and have no disadvantages. Mathematecaliy they are also over-represented in parliaments. ironicaly, the so-called right-wing German AfD party also has the most black politicians in German politics.

Definition for a German is someone of ethnic German descent, Native to Germany, and is the original Inhabitant of Germany. Turks, Black Africans, and Koreans, are not German, and could never be German if moving to Germany. If it was White Germans living in Senegal calling themselves Senegalese, allot of Black Natives of Senegal would be pissed off.

Germany has not been "shaped by immigration". Most European countries are ethno-nationalist states, rather than civic nationalist states like the US which were truly built by immigrants. I have no issues with immigrants and consider myself 'cosmopolitan', so to speak, but please don't push such nonsense on people. Moreover, how much would you bet that these very same people would cry racist if ethnic data was indeed being collected – ESPECIALLY in Germany? What matters is economic status, not ethnicity.

maybe they aren`t collecting ethnicity data , because it isn`t important what race you are and the colour of your skin, if they collect that sort of data , it can be spun any which way people want it to be and then be used to spread division to create fear and hate , it`s your actions that are important

Collecting Ethnicity Data!! How should I do that as a German? I already get problems when I name people according to their origin or culture or religion - they are German or want to be or become one and they don't want to be classified according to the nation of their Origin. It feels like every other month the names change which one may or may not use. What should I use there? A color scale without being able to name the colors?

So what have Africans done for Germany historically? People who arent 'locals' are in all countries seen as 'other' even when they are from the same country.
