If I am trying to file taxes on behalf of my deceased father and the representative assessee request is rejected, am I still allowed to pay the taxes? If not, do penalties continue to accrue even though I am not allowed to pay the taxes? Thanks for any information.

I am also trying to become a representative assessee for my late father. I also have complications in getting it done but I really appreciate that there is a real dedication from the government towards making this easier and accessible to everyone. Seeing active replies to people here makes me happy and I hope things improve. HUGE RESPECT

Account of the legal heir entered at the time of registering as representative assessee but 'no account added' is shown at deceased person's portal and refund has also not been credited to legal heir's account yet for previous AY.

My father in law expire in june 2023. My mother in law is the legal heir. I have submitted legal heir proof pension certificate which is in the Punjabi language. After query by income tax department i have furnished english version of certificate duly notarized along with original certificate. Income tax department says that documents does not contain name of issuing authority original documents contain the same but notarized not authorised to contain name of issuing authority. What can we do please solve my query.
I have submitted grievance on tha same matter but not conclusion reached.

The video is not fully informative. My request was rejected. Though indemnity bond is optional as stated, i am asked to submit. Why should it not be simple for a wife in a common case of demise? The honest intention to file is getting delayed abd the already tormented senior citizen due to the death of husband has to further run for fulfilling requirements

For some reason, when listing survivors, there is a field to choose the form of ID used. The next field asks for a (mandatory) ID #. When a PAN is used, this field does NOT accept the 5+1 letters that surround the 4 digits of a PAN #, and only allows entry of the numeric portion. So how can one register survivors with only a PAN # for legal heir this way? 4 digits is by no means an unique ID, resulting in up to 10000 (0000-9999) serial numbers at most. Even this video shows only digits being entered in that field. So is the video meant to mislead/misguide instead of help? Why has this sort of bug shown up on the application form?

Is there no pride in quality and a job well done, let alone proper testing? If all filing is online, and a nasty bug of this sort breaks the functionality, what's the whole point of it? And how does one get to file taxes on behalf of the deceased?
